Just Dream!

Two days ago, I quit my job. A world I took pride in and floundered at, for 8 years, 4 months and 17 days.

Let me write that out: EIGHT years, Four months, and Seventeen days. That’s almost Three Thousand Fifty Seven days. The entire life span of a guinea pig!

Why did I leave, you ask?

Let’s start from the beginning:) I grew up in New Delhi, India and completed my Bachelor in Statistics.

6(Pretty good looking kid, eh;))

Having grown up in a conventional environment, I was raised to believe that the opportunity to work for a Fortune 500 isn’t something you let go. Leaving one, isn’t an option:)

Up until a week ago, I was working for one of the world’s largest Credit Union, a Fortune 100. I had a nice salary, awesome colleagues, incredible benefits, money to travel the world, was close to being promoted, had little to no work stress, got free massages during work hours, and access to a 24×7 café with a built in Starbucks!

(Also, a stability ball;))

But then something happened. I discovered the world of Startups. At first, passively through my brother and his up-to-the-minute Evangelism team.

Then actively, when I began being more involved with the Developer community. Six months later, I had dabbed my hands at Startup weekends, Developer days, Accelerators, Meetups, Developer conferences and workshops, to say the least.

So, when I was asked to come aboard and manage the events for Twilio, that has to be one of the best moments of my life – or as us “South Asians” refer to it, “A kodak moment”:)

(Something like that, get the picture?)

There was no second guessing that Twilio was the opportunity I had been waiting for. So, 8 years later, here I am – finally embarking on a new journey. I am scared, nervous, …yet so damn stoked.

What’s next?

It’s been a hell of a ride. I’ve been lucky to work with an amazing team that always stuck around and taught me a lot. A big THANK YOU to them for all the wonderful moments and memories. And I owe it to them, more than myself to make this happen. To make them proud.
